2020 Annual Joint Clean-Up
This years event was a smashing success! In less than 3 hours, 65 volunteers removed 5,280 pounds of trash from the little unnamed creek beside the Roberson Pathway! That’s 5,280 pounds of trash removed from the Morgan Creek watershed. On Saturday, March 7th from 1:00-4:00, Carrboro Stormwater is teaming up with the Chapel Hill Stormwater to clean up a section of the Morgan Creek watershed. Volunteers are invited to pick up litter along the stream next to the Roberson Place Pathway on the border of Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
Every time it rains, litter from both towns washes down into this unnamed stream, impacting the critters who live there and clogging the stormwater pipes downstream.
What We Will Do
Volunteers will sign in and complete a liability waiver form. After a safety briefing, Stormwater staff will hand out supplies. We will comb through the stream next to the Roberson Place Bike path as a group, filling up trash bags as we go.
Where to Meet
The gravel parking lot at South Green Development (501 South Greensboro Street, Carrboro).
What Staff Will Provide
Gloves, trash bags, trash grabbers, first-aid kits, and water bottle refill station.
What to Bring
Volunteers are required to wear close-toed shoes. We might get dirty, so waterproof boots, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts are recommended. A water refill station will be provided, so consider bringing a water bottle.
